It is hard to believe that the first quarter is already over and we are through fifty days of school already. We have seen a lot of success as of late with a variety of student activities. This past weekend just wrapped the fall play "Where Were You When The Tardy Bell Rang?" The cast members did an excellent job! The entire Junior/Senior High School had the opportunity to view the play last Thursday. Also this past week was individual state drill team. We hope that the girls were successful in their competition. We have also seen great success with the fall music concert, all state choir, junior high honor choir, and volleyball.
MMC has been chosen as a recipient of the S3 grant (Safe and Supportive Schools). While I do not have a lot of data at the present moment, it will provide MMC with the opportunity to continually improve our schools.
This week brings a number of opportunities to contact your child's teachers. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled from 4:30 PM until 8:15 PM on Tuesday (11/08) and Thursday (11/10). Please take this opportunity to ask how successful your child can be in the classroom.
As always, if you have any questions or would like to visit at any time, feel free to contact me or stop in at any time.
Have a great day!

Off and Running!
Hello!
It has been a long time since my last post, but it has been full of excitement and intrigue. The year is off and running and so far it has been a very positive start. Our sports programs have been kicked off to a good start and the roles in the play "Where Were You When The Tardy Bell Rang?" Today we will be having a pep rally to support all of these programs during our Eagle's Nest time.
What is Eagle's Nest time you ask? Eagle's Nest is similar to a homeroom concept but is also an academic remediation period between our sixth and seventh period classes. This allows for a thirty minute window for students to seek the help that they may need from our teachers. This time also allows for character building and to further the goals of Rachel's Challenge.
I want to continue to praise the students, staff, and community on the warm reception and great start to the school year. I want to reiterate that my door is always open and I would love to talk to all.
Have a great weekend and Go Eagles!

SAI--Day 1
Hello All!
I am writing this post from the SAI Conference at the Polk County Convention Center in Des Moines. For most, SAI is nothing more than a set of letters. To school administrators, SAI refers to the professional group, School Administrators of Iowa. During this time, school administrators meet and attend breakout sessions pertaining to goal setting, school culture and transformation, leadership, and other issues. This morning, I attended a session by Dr. Anthony Muhammad on the topic of school culture. Overall, the SAI conference has been rewarding experience thus far and I look forward to utilizing these ideas as the school year gets underway. School is just on the horizon and I can't wait to get the opportunity to help staff of MMC continue and expand the successes of our student body.
Don't forget.....district wide registration is on August 9th.
